News, 4/5/2010The first two EuroTour tournaments in 2010 have been played and the current standings are updated.
In the recent Copenhagen Open, the weather was pretty much perfect with sunshine for the entire weekend. The course is among the longest on the Eurotour at 2388 meters with a par 64.
The first round on Saturday was accompanied by some wind and even some of the good players struggled to get a round in under par. This was not the case for reigning European Champion Ville Piippo though, who threw a nine under par, 55. Nearest competitors were Anders Swärd and Robert Buzasy, both with a 57. During the second round the wind died down, and scores improved across the board. With Ville hanging on to first place after Saturday, Anders Swärd played a phenomenal third round on Sunday with a score of 51, 13 under par. This catapulted him into the lead before the final.
After nine intense holes there was a tie for first place - Anders Swärd and Ville Pippo had to play sudden death on a hole, that did not set up well for Ville's forehand. Anders Swärd played two perfect shots giving him the easy birdie, winning the Copenhagen Open 2010.
In Master division, Hasse Tegebäck won easily, as did Birgitta Lagerholm in the Women division and Paul Francz in the Grandmaster division.
